South Korean comes to north

Kim Ki Ho, who worked as a chief of inspection department under the 6th ordnance battalion of the US 8th Army Command in south Korea, has recently defected to the DPRK.
He was born on August 10, 1945 in Kumi City, North Kyongsang Province.
He said that he began to dislike south Korean society where the national dignity and sovereignty and human rights are violated by the US and did not want to see the US war moves against the fellow countrymen and anti-reunification movements. He added that he voluntarily came over to the DPRK that is displaying the honour of the country with Songun politics in a bid to contribute his mite to driving US troops out of south Korea and the cause of independent reunification together with northern compatriots.
He was warmly welcomed by northerners.

Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Ki Ho who defected to the northern half of Korea was interviewed here on February 8 by domestic and foreign mediapersons. Kim, 60, had served as an employee at a U.S. army unit in south Korea for nearly 30 years.
At the press conference he said he came over to the northern half of Korea not by any impulse but because he was unable to remain a passive on-looker to all sorts of highhandedness, outrages and atrocities committed by GIs in south Korea. That was why he came to bitterly hate the U.S. and think that its forces should be forced out of south Korea, he said, and continued:
Through various channels I came to know well that in the northern half of Korea the people enjoy a worthy life as masters of society and, in particular, the DPRK under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il is standing firm against the U.S. which styles itself the "only superpower" in the world. This renewed my resolution to come over to the north with the firm determination to contribute to the struggle to force GIs out of south Korea and reunify the country.
Referring to the embezzlement of funds by a superior officer of the U.S. army, he said the Yankees expelled him in a bid to cover up their crime when he attempted to lay bare this scandal.
The U.S. loudmouthed "reduction" and "relocation" of its forces in south Korea are nothing but an artifice to conceal its aggressive aim to make a preemptive strike at the north, he said.
He cited concrete facts he witnessed in his unit to prove that the U.S. used the "reduction" and "relocation" as a pretext for its massive shipment of all types of latest war equipment into south Korea.
The U.S. has talked much about the "six-way talks" over the "nuclear issue," asserting that "it has no intention to invade the north", but it is aimed to cover up its aggressive nature, he noted, warning that one should not be taken in by such trick of the U.S.
The anti-Americanism of the south Korean people has gained momentum in the wake of the June 15 joint declaration, he said.
He expressed the conviction that the mindset of the south Korean people following leader Kim Jong Il and supporting his Songun policy will grow stronger as the days go by and national reunification will come true thanks to this policy.
Pyongyangites Welcome S. Korean Defector
Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- Pyongyangites warmly welcomed Kim Ki Ho who came over to the north at a mass meeting held Tuesday. Kim, 60, came over to the north recently while serving as a civilian employee at a unit of the U.S. forces in south Korea.
Kim Jong Sik, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, in a welcome speech said that Kim Ki Ho's defection to the north was an expression of his longing for the north and his will to join the sacred Songun revolutionary ranks whose members are single-mindedly united around the headquarters of the revolution.
Kim would have an opportunity to fully enjoy a worthwhile and rewarding life as a citizen of the DPRK which has made a dynamic advance, demonstrating its dignity thanks the unquestioned prestige of Kim Jong Il, Songun illustrious commander of Mt. Paektu, noted Kim Jong Sik.
Kim Ki Ho in a reply speech said that in the south he came to know well about the aggressive and predatory nature of the U.S. which has lorded it over and committed all sorts of arbitrary practices, wantonly trampling down upon the dignity and sovereignty of the people, and keenly realized how miserable and disgraceful the lot of colonial slaves was.
He continued:
The people in the south regard the north winning victory after victory in the stand-off with the U.S. under the banner of Songun as a fortress of national dignity and independence. They are very pleased to learn that their brethren in the north are frustrating every move of the U.S. against the north. They are convinced that the north represents the future of the nation.
The north which has built up strong national power thanks to the Songun policy under the leadership of Kim Jong Il is a very promising powerful state fully demonstrating the dignity and spirit of the nation.
He renewed his strong will to devote himself to the drive to achieve the prosperity of the socialist country and the cause of reunification, the greatest desire of the nation, true to Kim Jong Il's Songun politics.
At the meeting Kim Ki Ho was awarded an order of the DPRK and prize money.
Present there were An Kyong Ho, director of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, and others.
